The Play of Light in Interior Design
Modern paintings for interiors are often abstract canvases without clear figurative subjects, inviting each viewer to interpret them in their own way. But to keep abstraction from turning into mere chaos, it still follows the rules of classical composition — especially the balance of shadow, midtones, and light.
The brightest spots in a piece act as powerful accents, giving meaning to the abstract composition. They bring the artwork a sense of completeness and can even evoke feelings of joy!
Yllen Avotí often uses touches of gold and silver
to create highlights. These metallic accents catch and reflect the light beautifully, creating a focal point that draws the eye and adds a special presence to any interior.

Metallic Accents in Modern Wall Art
A contemporary artist is always on the lookout for fresh creative techniques, boldly experimenting with unexpected combinations of materials and methods. Artwork featuring metallic effects never fails to captivate the eye and lends a modern touch to any interior.
Achieving this metallic effect takes several layers of paint and varnish, resulting in unique textures and reflections on the canvas.
Handcrafted Mosaic Wall Art
I've always been fascinated by the effect that mosaics create, and I have often used their imitation in my paintings in the past. But now, I have decided to pursue this art form fully. I have developed my own technique for making mosaics from a sculpting medium, which I shape and then paint. These tiles are 0.4–1 inch in size, and they are unique; you won't find them anywhere else. Up close, they resemble natural pebbles, each slightly different from the other, but unlike stone, ceramics, or glass, they are lightweight.

Finding the Perfect Fit: Choosing the Right Size for Wall Art
When my mother-in-law asked me to make a painting for her, I thought, “Perfect! I get to add my own vibe to her place.” But then we hit a snag… figuring out the right size for the wall. Turns out, that’s trickier than it sounds.
She had this blank spot surrounded by different furniture pieces — all different shapes and sizes — and I just couldn’t tell what would look good there. Big or small, vertical, horizontal, square?
So I came up with a little hack: I grabbed a big piece of cardboard and cut it to the largest size we were considering for the painting. We hung it up on the wall, and let it sit there for a few days. If it started to feel way too huge and annoying every time we walked by, we knew it was too big.
If you ever have this problem, try my trick! Cut out your biggest possible size from cardboard or tape some paper sheets together. Hang it on the wall and live with it for a few days. Ask everyone who comes over: “Does this look normal? Too big? Too small?” Trust me — the wrong size will start driving you crazy real fast. Then you can trim it smaller or piece more on until it feels just right.
By the way, in this online art shop, we have lots of size options for wall art. But if none of them fit your space I’m always happy to create a custom size for you at no extra cost. Just leave me a message with your measurements, and I’ll make sure your art fits perfectly in your home.
Getting the size right makes such a difference in how your room feels. Happy decorating!
